Survival horror RPG fans have a new one to keep on their radar. Parasite Mutant still doesn’t have a confirmed release date but players don’t have to wait anymore to experience what it’s all about. Indie studio IceSitruuna has just released a free demo on Steam, letting people jump into the game early and get a feel for its combat, atmosphere, and overall direction.

It’s especially good news for anyone who’s been craving something in the vein of Parasite Eve as it’s heavily inspired by it.

 

The Parasite Mutant Demo Is Now Available on Steam

Parasite Mutant is a survival horror RPG built around tense exploration, monster encounters, and puzzle-solving, with a gameplay style that leans toward tactical decision-making. IceSitruuna has described the project as heavily inspired by Parasite Eve. The game is planned to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, Epic, and GOG.

The demo was originally set to release earlier but IceSitruuna delayed it after noting that launching during the Steam Winter Sale would likely reduce its visibility and impact on the storefront. Now that the sale period has passed, the demo is officially live though it’s only available on Steam for now, with no word yet on whether it will also be offered on other platforms where the full game is set to launch.

As for content, the demo includes around 45 minutes of gameplay featuring tutorial sections, combat, puzzles, and a small portion of the prologue. Players can also explore an area that represents 5% of the full game’s planned scope.

   

The community response so far has been mostly positive. Players have highlighted the game’s solid performance including on Steam Deck, and the combat system has drawn praise for capturing the feel of Parasite Eve-style encounters. Enemy variety and creature designs have also stood out as early strengths.

But of course since it’s not technically done yet, there are still improvement requests like smoother movement during camera shifts and upgraded UI. All things considered, Parasite Mutant is shaping up to be one of the more interesting survival horror RPGs to watch heading into 2026.
