A hidden Red Dead Redemption 2 Easter egg has been discovered after 7 years, sending fans into a frenzy to solve one of the game’s biggest mysteries.
Update Jan 7th – The plot thickens! The last clue (NW) is where most people stopped but Synth Potato continued to follow the breadcrumbs and have now found the next search area, pointing north.
However, some fans are also exploring other ideas that maybe instead of birds to north, it’s number 33 or even a frontal view of a spider. Whatever it is, Rockstar really wasn’t playing when they made RDR2. Anyway, on to Wapiti it is!

Original publication – Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed games of all time. Since its release in 2018, Rockstar’s sprawling western has sold tens of millions of copies, won countless awards, and earned a reputation for unmatched attention to detail.
With several years under its belt, RDR2 continues to find its way into the headlines, whether through rumors of a next-gen upgrade for modern consoles or rumors about a possible Nintendo Switch 2 version.
And now, barely a week into the year, Red Dead Redemption 2 is in the spotlight again. This time, it is not due to anything happening on the development side but because a “new” Easter egg has been discovered. This has been hiding in plain sight for the past seven years, completely unnoticed by one of the most dedicated gaming communities in the world.
Red Dead Redemption 2: A Completely New Mystery Emerges
Originally posted by YouTuber Strange Man, a completely new mystery has emerged in Red Dead Redemption 2 which has hooked and intrigued fans for the past 24 hours. This is not a leftover asset or a coincidence but a genuine Easter egg intentionally designed by Rockstar that somehow evaded detection for more than seven years.
The discovery begins in New Hanover where players noticed a strange spider symbol carved into a telegraph pole in the Heartlands. Above the symbol, under very specific conditions, a spider web with feathers spawns between 3am and 4am in-game. When the spider symbol is then overlaid onto the in-game map, things get even stranger.
It reveals that its legs point toward eight different telegraph poles scattered across the region. Each of these poles can spawn a spider web at different times, and each web has a feather attached that players can shoot off.

This is a real easter egg, designed by Rockstar and has gone completely unnoticed for 7 years.

At the center of the overlaid spider symbol, players can find a ninth location marked by a massive spider web wrapped around a tree which only spawns between 1am and 2am. Viewed from the correct angle, the web reveals the letter “N” along with a drawing of a telegraph pole.
Following this clue leads players straight north to another telegraph pole. Shooting this pole reveals a hidden carving beneath the wood, displaying the letter “W” and a sequence of pole markings that appear to indicate a specific number of locations to follow.
Continuing west and interacting with the correct telegraph pole reveals the final message discovered so far. This carving shows the letters NW accompanied by a guitar symbol. Following the northwest direction leads players to Fort Wallace, a location where several guitars can be found, though none have yet discovered the meaning of it.
Some went further, heading west bringing players to Dodd’s Bluff, a location many believe is a tongue-in-cheek Rockstar joke.

As it stands, the mystery remains unsolved. No one knows what the spider symbol ultimately leads to or whether the final step has simply not been found yet.
What makes this Easter egg so fascinating is not just its complexity but the fact that it remained hidden for seven years in one of the most heavily explored open worlds ever created. A massive spider web on a tree, precise time-based spawns, map overlays, and carved messages all slipped past the community until now.
After all this time, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to prove that its world still holds secrets, and this newly discovered mystery may only be the beginning.
