Today, 29 July 2025, marks the anticipated launch in Early Access (Game Preview) of Grounded 2. Available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and also via Xbox Game Pass. The Return of the Shrunken Teens: A New Adventure Awaits!

Grounded 2 takes us to the year 1992, exactly two years after the events starring Max, Willow, Pete, and Hoops. They find themselves shrunken once again, but this time in Brookhollow Park. This opens up a world full of new things to explore, offering a map as large as the first game’s, even in Game Preview.

With the return of Ominent Practical Technologies (Ominent), the tech company at the center of the 1990 disaster, this time led by Sloane Beaumont. As the Story Trailer tells us, Ominent is busy with new plans and secret experiments.

 

Game-changing New Features: The Revamped Gameplay

Grounded 2 promises a significantly improved gaming experience, offering an even richer game world with various biomes to explore, as well as challenges with new insects and expanded building and crafting options. On the gameplay side, it offers:

  • Ride insects! Here come the Buggies: By popular demand, we can finally ride insects. The various mounts will have special abilities, like the Red Ant for carrying objects, or the Orb-Weaver Spider, which can create shields or lift us to new heights with its web.
  • Combat 2.0: A major combat rework, adding features like dodges for both players and enemies. This adds a dynamic and strategic touch to combat. Not to mention the mutation system rework, now allowing the creation of true gameplay-style archetypes.
  • Omni-Tool: The handy new tool that allows effortless access to the right tool for any occasion. Access axes, shovels, wrenches, and hammers on the fly, freeing up our inventory.

Today marks the anticipated official launch of Grounded 2. The new adventure from Obsidian Entertainment will take us back into the world of insects. Following the quartet of Hoops, Max, Pete, and Willow two years after the events of the first game. Available on Xbox Series X/S and Steam in Early Access starting today:

  • 29 July 2025 at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT / 19:00 CEST

Game Preview will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from Day One on both PC and Console for Ultimate subscribers. For those who want to permanently add the game to their library, there will be a choice of two Game Editions:
