DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined is a reimagining of the classic JRPG. With this, Square Enix aims to make the game accessible to both long-time fans and new players. The game comes in several editions, including a Deluxe version that allows you to start playing now, two days early.
What is DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined?
DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined is a remake of Dragon Quest VII featuring completely overhauled graphics and gameplay mechanics. The game offers the classic turn-based combat system but with several modern adjustments and QoL improvements. You can expect a vast world with many islands, time travel, and a strong narrative focus.
In the Reimagined version, the developers wanted to create better user guidance, so the menus and overall experience are more accessible. Progression is also designed to be faster compared to its predecessor. This makes the game interesting and tailored for both long-standing series fans and newcomers. The game launches on May 5th for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Deluxe Edition Overview
In addition to the base game of DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined, a Digital Deluxe Edition is also available. This edition includes three DLCs and the White Wolf outfit for Ruff. These DLCs will be available for individual purchase later, but they are slightly cheaper when bought as a set. However, the Deluxe Edition offers another major advantage: 48 hours of Early Access. This means you can play the game right now instead of waiting until Thursday.
Is the Deluxe Edition worth it at launch?
If you are a fan of the series and want to have the DLCs, the Deluxe Edition is worth it. The skin also looks very nice. However, if your only goal is to play the game two days early, it might not be worth the extra money. In that case, I would recommend simply waiting the two days. Early Access is primarily worthwhile for streamers who want to play the game as early as possible.
