DOTA 2 is 2016’s Most-Played Game on Steam!
DOTA 2 has dominated Steam in 2016! The game emerged as the most played game on Steam for the year 2016, according to GitHyp, a tracking tool for popular Steam games.
The game has a whopping 636,607 average players per hour for the whole year.
Counter-Strike Global Offensive came in second place with 360,600 average players per hour. On the third spot is Team Fortress 2 with 50,802 average player per hour. GTA 5 is at number four with 40,258, and Civilization 5 at number five with 37,885.
As GitHyp noted, no games released in 2016 were part of the top five. Dark Souls 3 sits at number 21 with an average of 14,186 players. XCOM 2 is on number 44 with 7,815 average players, and the highly-criticized No Man’s Sky is at number 41 with 8,393 average players.
“When looking at the average players per hour, it was actually the free-to-play team-based shooter, Paladins, that ended as 2016’s strongest new release ranking in at #15 on Steam with an average of 22,809 players per hour.”
