Developer ArtPlay, along with publisher 505 Games, has announced Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, a prequel to 2019’s Metroidvania Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The 2.5D side scroller will launch sometime in 2026 for PC and consoles.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement has officially been unveiled by ArtPlay and 505 Games. The Metroidvania is a prequel to Ritual of the Night and will launch in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Set in 16th-century England, the game follows two new protagonists, Leonard Brandon and Alexander Kyteler, a young fighter and knight who set forth to slay Demon Lord Elias and his evil forces.

Revealed during the recent PlayStation State of Play, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement takes place across 16th-century England under the ethereal castle of Demon Lord Elias, who has spread his corruption and cast his demonic forces across the now-cursed land.

Rising against Elias’ evil, the kingdom and church have attempted to end his reign without success, but now, two new heroes, Leonard Brandon of the Black Wolves clan and Alexander Kyteler of the White Stags knights, team up to put a stop to Elias once and for all. An expansive world, a diverse range of skills, and a fresh look at the Bloodstained universe await.
