Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus Devs Wanted to Show Hitler’s Penis, But Decided Against It
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus developer, MachineGames, wanted to add Adolf Hitler’s penis into the game, but was advised not to by Bethesda executives. MachineGames launched Wolfenstein 2 in October 2017, and the FPS is known for its ridiculous and over-the-top gameplay and storytelling.
While it’s known for pushing boundaries, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus developer MachineGames ultimately decided not to include the controversial scene.
In a recent interview with Noclip via IGN, MachineGames co-founder and creative director Jens Matthies revealed that he wanted to surprise players and add “something they haven’t seen before.”

The Controversial Idea
If you’re new to The New Colossus, the game follows BJ Blazkowicz on absurd mission to defeat the Nazi war machine that has a stranglehold on the world. In one particular scene, Hitler decides to cast a film and Blazcowicz goes undercover as an actor, in which he meets the Führer, who urinates during the meeting.
Unfortunately (or most likely fortunately), Matthies’ idea of having Hitler fully show his penis as a shock value was rejected by a Bethesda executive who advised against the idea. You can watch the clip below starting from 19:17.
Developer Insights
Following on from his idea, Matthies said the studio ultimately believed seeing Hitler’s penis was “a little bit too much.” He also doesn’t think it takes away from the scene, and that players can still see how weak Hitler is, which is in contrast to the “ruthlessness” of the Nazis.
Although MachineGames didn’t go ahead with their controversial idea, Matthies does believe they made something interesting, which was a dark and comic scene.
