Wheel World (WW) is the new free-roaming racing game from the studio Messhof. A small Californian development studio mostly known for the Nidhogg series. Now, they’re tackling a bigger project: a 3D open-world bike racing experience. The project was formerly known as Ghost Bike and was renamed in mid-October 2024.

Today marks the launch of Wheel World from the Messhof team and publisher Annapurna Interactive. The new open-world free-roaming bike experience from the small Californian team. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass starting today, 23 July 2025.
The release date was revealed at the PC Gaming Show 2025 on 8 June 2025 with the official trailer. It takes us into the colorful, cell-shaded world of Wheel World. Offering an entire world to explore by pedaling as the young cyclist Kat. Chosen by the spirits of ancient cyclists to complete an important ritual to save the world.
Wheel World: Gameplay and Key Features
WW presents itself as an open-world bike adventure. We’ll join Kat through the colorful world, exploring without limits on her bike. An adventure that offers:
- Open World: A colorful cell-shaded world to explore freely. With numerous regions full of challenges, unique characters, and secrets to discover.
- Customization: Deep customization for the 7 parts of our trusty bike. These will impact the 4 stats of Power, Aerodynamics, Handling, and Grip.
- Race: Meet lots of characters and teams to challenge on various circuits and show off your tricks. Gain reputation with the goal of recovering the stolen Legendary components. These are necessary for the Great Shift ritual.
All of this is accompanied by a soundtrack created by Italians Do It Better, particularly by Johnny Jewel, Orion, and JOON. It will guide you through races and exploration with 19 tracks plus 2 Instrumentals.
