TimeSplitters Rewind Announced: Release Date Confirmed After 12-Year Wait
With a surprise announcement, we have the launch date for TimeSplitters Rewind, an awesome fan project that’s coming to life after a 12-year wait—and it’s arriving sooner than expected.
TimeSplitters is the famous first-person shooter series developed by the Free Radical Design team. A British development team from Nottingham founded in 1999, they debuted the first title in 2000. With a shooter adventure through time travel, which ended in 2005 with the third chapter TimeSplitters: Future Perfect.
This was supposed to be followed by a fourth chapter, with the team’s acquisition by Crytek in 2009, but the team closed in 2014. This led to a fan petition in 2012 for an HD trilogy of the series, receiving permission from Crytek for the creation of a fan project.

TimeSplitters Rewind: Fan Project Launch Date Announced
With a project started in 2012, TimeSplitters Rewind shows up after a long wait with fantastic news. Celebrating precisely the 25th Anniversary of the series on 26 October, the US launch date, with the fateful launch date of the fan project. It will debut exactly on 23 November 2025.
A date that’s one day before the anniversary of the first chapter’s European debut. The announcement comes with a short trailer showing the awesome project in action. Finally seeing the light of day 12 years later, and with hope for the series’ revival and the arrival of the long-awaited 4.
TimeSplitters Rewind: What the project brings
Incredible news for long-time fans of the Free Radical Design shooter. With a project created by fans for fans, all completely free and developed on Crytek’s Cryengine 3 after receiving permission. Attracting over 50 fans to the project’s creation, which will offer:
- 20 Arcade Game Modes and 50 Arcade Leagues
- 28 Maps, 91 Characters, 41 Weapons, and 32 Challenges
- Online and Offline Story Mode
- New Game Mode: Team Elimination
- Updated Game Mode: Last Stand
- Up to 10 Players Online and Offline Arcade Bots
With a total of weapons, maps, characters, and modes from the entire Trilogy. It also seems the team confirmed on Discord the entire Rebuilt Campaign of the first chapter. With the Second and Third TimeSplitters campaigns arriving post-launch.
