Tears of Metal Network Test Registration Opens Today
After two years since its initial reveal during Summer Game Fest 2024, Paper Cult is finally releasing Tears of Metal today in Early Access. While it’s still a work in progress, the game already looks pretty solid from all the previews and the demo, which thankfully was not pulled as initially intended.
The game unlocks today, July 22, 2026, for PC via Steam and Xbox for PC at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm BST. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can also play starting today. It is a bit odd that it was missing in the July 2026 wave 2 announcement even though it was confirmed beforehand that it is joining the service.
At launch, players will have access to the complete core experience, including the full progression loop from beginning to end, three Acts filled with unique enemies, elite encounters and bosses, three playable Heroes, along with village upgrades, Emblems, equipment, companions, and other progression systems.
Throughout Early Access, players can expect new playable heroes, a new emblem family, fresh equipment, charms, and additional companions. The developers also plan to release extra village content, regular balance updates, performance optimizations, and quality-of-life features tailored to how the community plays.
Tears of Metal launches in early access at $24.99 with a 10% discount for the first two weeks. With over 500,000 people who wishlisted the game, that initial price drop should be quite handy for early buyers.
