While the developer states that upcoming censorship will not be significant, it’s simply reducing some violence and nudity. The developer is updating fans for transparency.
What Is Being Censored In Ready or Not?
Void Interactive is launching Ready or Not on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. To allow the game’s release for those platforms, the developer states it must reduce gore, nudity, and explicit representations of violence and mistreatment against children.
In its update on Steam, Void Interactive outlined it was only making changes “flagged as absolutely required by first-party partners.” The tonality of the game will remain untouched with a limit on features such as dismemberment, which can still occur, but not after a character dies. Other changes mean numerous civilians and a suspect will have more clothing. The developer is also removing direct hints of severe violence to children.

Why Fans Are Review Bombing
In a direct response to the censoring coming to Ready or Not, players on Steam have been leaving negative reviews, dropping the game’s rating to “Mixed” from “Very Positive.”
Some recent Steam reviews are very critical of the developer’s decision to censor the FPS. One player says their recent review will “stay negative until the game returns to its mature form,” while another says “devs are censoring the game in order to appease the…console playerbase,” and another player states that “censorship sucks.”
Developer Response and What’s Next
Despite Ready or Not receiving new censorship, Void Interactive says it is making the decision to also implement the changes on PC as maintaining separate versions for consoles and PC “increases the likelihood of bugs” and would make “crossplay unusable.”
