A New Perspective on the Glade of Dreams
Ubisoft has officially confirmed that the limbless hero is returning with a massive overhaul. Revealed during the latest Sony State of Play, Rayman Legends Retold rebuilds the acclaimed platformer from the ground up.
Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, this new iteration utilizes the Snowdrop engine to present the classic side-scrolling action in full 3D. The developers aim to bend the playground and dynamically shift camera angles during gameplay.
According to Ubisoft’s official announcement, the project expands the established lore with a brand-new narrative. Brand Producer Loïc Gounon noted that the team wanted to preserve core mechanics while expanding the world logic for a new generation.
The title features an entirely new sixth zone to explore, thrilling dragon rides, and four original musical stages. Furthermore, characters are fully voiced for the first time in franchise history, accompanied by an expanded soundtrack from composers Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.
What is included in Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition?
Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition is a complete remaster of the 2011 platformer, offering 4K resolution, 60 FPS gameplay, and modernized controls. It is included entirely for free with all copies of Rayman Legends Retold and features new accessibility options, unlockable concept art, and haptic feedback support.
Ubisoft has integrated heavily requested quality-of-life updates into this package. Players can now skip cutscenes, remap controls freely, and toggle a permanent run option to streamline the platforming experience.
Accessibility sees a major boost with the introduction of Murphy Assistant, a feature that uses audio cues to signal missed collectibles in completed levels. New defensive items, such as Golden and Diamond Hearts, offer additional hit protection for challenging sections.
Completionists can track down Relics, which were previously exclusive to the PS Vita version, to unlock developer videos. A new Concept Gallery and Standee Viewer also provide an interactive way to view over seventy pieces of artwork and fifty-one character models.

Pre-Order Editions and Bonus Content
Consumers looking to secure a copy ahead of the October 1 launch have several versions to choose from across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms.
The Standard Edition provides the base game and the Origins Enhanced Edition. Players opting for the digital-only Deluxe Edition will also receive the Retro Pack, which contains four classic character costumes, alongside a digital Art Gallery.
Physical media collectors can purchase the Launch Edition, which bundles the games with a printed map of the Glade of Dreams, a slipcase, and a set of three lithographs.
The Verdict on Ubisoft’s Platforming Revival
Rayman Legends Retold represents a significant structural shift for one of Ubisoft’s most critically acclaimed properties. By transitioning to a 3D visual style while retaining the core rhythm-based platforming, the studio is attempting to bridge distinct eras of the franchise.
The inclusion of Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition as a standard bonus adds substantial historical weight to the package. Rather than splitting the releases, Ubisoft is consolidating the modern Rayman saga into a single, cohesive update.
With a firm release date of October 1, 2026, the performance of the Snowdrop engine and the execution of the new musical stages will determine if this reimagining meets the high expectations set by the original titles.
