Rayman returns to celebrate the 30th Anniversary with a new game edition!

The limbless hero is returning. A surprise listing from the Australian Classification Board leaked the existence of Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition.

Gematsu discovered the filing on January 22, 2026. The applicant is UI Entertainment. Crucially, the listing names Atari as both developer and publisher.

This is unusual. Ubisoft owns the franchise. Atari’s involvement suggests a unique licensing deal. This move likely frees up Ubisoft’s internal teams for other major projects.

Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition Details

The leak arrives just as the original 1995 game celebrates its 30th year. Insider Gaming reports that the title has been rated “G” for General Public, citing only “very mild violence.” The classification lists the platforms as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, aiming for a modern console release of the classic platformer.

Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming clarified the internal situation at Ubisoft. He noted that two Rayman projects were reportedly in the pipeline. One, codenamed “Steamboat,” is believed to be a remake of Rayman Legends.

However, Insider Gaming understands that this newly rated Anniversary Edition operates under the codename “Iceman.”

Insider Warnings and Expectations

While news of a return is exciting, some insiders suggest keeping expectations in check. Known leaker “j0nathan,” who frequently shares accurate Ubisoft information, hinted that a new announcement was imminent but warned it might “disappoint everyone” because the project is “not that new.”

This aligns perfectly with a straight port or simple remaster of the 1995 original rather than a full remake. Also coming during a turbulent time for Ubisoft. The company is currently undergoing significant restructuring, which recently saw the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake shelved.

With Atari handling the development of this Anniversary Edition, it allows Ubisoft to keep their mascot alive without diverting internal resources from their shifting priorities.

Verdict: Is Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition Necessary?

If you are a fan of retro platformers or want to experience the game that started it all, this edition seems like a solid pickup. However, players expecting a modern overhaul or a brand-new adventure might find the package lacking if it turns out to be a simple emulation of the 1995 classic.

Did you play the original Rayman back in the day, or will this be your first time experiencing the franchise?
