Following the 2023 departure of series creator Hideki Kamiya, PlatinumGames intends to continue the franchise, though the target hardware platforms remain unconfirmed.

Stellar Blade Completes Its Bayonetta Tribute
Shift Up integrated four Bayonetta-themed costumes into the upcoming Stellar Blade Complete Edition. Kim Hyung Tae revealed the final outfit as an original “Black Tres” design created specifically for the action game.
Kim expressed profound respect for the Bayonetta franchise during the panel. The Shift Up director credited PlatinumGames with heavily influencing his own approach to action mechanics and environmental transitions.
The developer jokingly requested a dedicated desk at PlatinumGames to design characters for the next Bayonetta installment. Inaba welcomed the enthusiasm and suggested future reciprocal crossovers between the two studios.

The Optimization Reality of Nintendo Switch 2
Shift Up detailed the technical hurdles of porting a high-fidelity action game to Nintendo’s newest hardware. Kim highlighted the difficulty of optimizing Stellar Blade for both docked and handheld modes.
The development team worked extensively to maintain a target of 60 frames per second on the hybrid console. Shift Up successfully packaged the entire game data directly onto the physical cartridge for the November release.
Atsushi Inaba agreed with the technical assessment regarding the complex development environment. The PlatinumGames CEO stated that while his studio has not yet released a Nintendo Switch 2 title, the console offers massive potential to widen player enjoyment.
PlatinumGames Navigates Massive Staff Turnover
PlatinumGames faces a transitional period following the exit of several high-profile directors. Hideki Kamiya departed the Osaka-based developer in late 2023.
Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata and Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura also left the company during the recent restructuring phase. The studio recently focused on external work-for-hire projects.
PlatinumGames contributed support development for Final Fantasy XVI and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Inaba’s public commitment to the Bayonetta IP signals a renewed focus on internal properties.
