Path of Exile 2: Find Out How to Join the First Free Weekend
Along with the announcement of the new Fourth Act for Path of Exile 2 from Gamescom 2025, Grinding Gear Games also brings some fantastic news. To accompany the launch of the Third Edict on 29 August 2025, the team has also decided to host the first Free Weekend for PoE2. Available from:
- 29 August 2025 until 1 September at 1:00pm PDT / 3:00pm EST / 22:00 CEST
The first chance to try the new PoE 2 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, Epic Games, and the Standalone Client. To Participate, you just need to simply download the game from the respective store. And once the period is over, your progress will still be saved, allowing you to continue by purchasing a Supporter Pack.

PoE 2: What’s New in the Third Edict?
The new Third Edict brings a slew of new content of various kinds. Among the many anticipated new additions are story updates, new game zones, enemies, and modes. As well as the introduction of the automated trading system and numerous reworks. In particular, we can count these as the main new features:
- Act 4: Bringing a whopping 16 new areas and 12 dangerous Bosses to the islands of the Ngamakanui archipelago. Continuing the story from Act Three, you’ll need to find the pieces of the weapon capable of stopping the threat of The Beast.
- Rise of the Abyssal: A new challenge with the Order of the Abyssal scattered throughout Wraeclast, emerging from the underground. The goal is to close the Abyss by exploring the Depths and re-emerging with powerful new Mods.
- Sprint and Gem System: With the new addition of Sprint, which can be activated by holding down the Roll key. Your character, regardless of class, will perform a roll and then sprint. And the new rework of the Gem Support System now allows you to use multiple copies of the same gem. Plus, there are 11 new gems to experiment with and upgrade.
To which are added numerous fixes, balancing, and reworks that the GGG team explains in detail in the PoE 2 Patch 0.30 notes. And you’ll still have the chance to unlock some cosmetic items during the free weekend for all players. Unlocking:
- Reach the Clearfell Encampment to receive the Exile’s Hood
- Defeat the Druid in the Grim Tangle (Act I) to receive the Exile’s Staff Skin
- Defeat Count Geonor (end of Act I) to receive the Exile’s Cloak
