The official follow-up to Dontnod’s supernatural teenage adventure, Life is Strange, finally has an official release date. Life of Strange 2 will be launching on September 27th. The game will still be following an episodic release structure with the first of 5 episodes releasing on the aforementioned date.

The announcement was made through a short teaser which didn’t really show anything but the game’s title and release date. Dontnod has not revealed much in terms of details for the upcoming sequel, except the fact that it will feature a cast of new characters. Whether of not Max and Chloe, or any characters from the first game, will make an appearance. Ir’s also possible the game will be set in a different time and place.

Even the game’s website still features the prequel, Before the Storm, which was developed by Deck Nine. Also, Steam doesn’t have a listing for the sequel yet. What we do know is that the game will be connected to The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, a demo set in the same universe that supposedly contains links to the story and characters of Life is Strange 2. The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit will come out on June 26th and will be free for everyone.

Dontnod did say on Twitter that they’ll be revealing more about the sequel in August. That conveniently coincides with Gamescom, so we’re guessing that’s where they’ll be making their big reveal.

Gamescom, Europe’s biggest gaming show, will be held in Cologne, Germany. The event runs fron August 21st to 25th.
