Valve is reportedly working on Half-Life 3. That is if you decide to believe the rumors that have been doing the round on the internet this weekend.

Fans of the sci-fi FPS have been begging for Half-Life 3 for what seems a lifetime now. Every year there seems to be a new rumor. However, these last couple of days, there has been an interesting development that caught the eye of the Half-Life fanbase.

Half-Life 3 Valve project White Sands explained

In a now-deleted post on Natasha Chandel’s site, a voice actor, producer, and writer who has worked on projects for Disney, Activision Blizzard, and more pointed to voiceover work for Valve on “Project White Sands.”

For those who don’t know, White Sands is a NASA rocket testing and propulsion facility in New Mexico, which is where the Black Mesa facility in the Half-Life series is found. Half-Life 3? Maybe. Maybe not. But it appears that Valve is definitely working on something.

What we do know, thanks to data miners such as Tyler McVicker on YouTube, is that Valve began working on a new single-player game the same time they were working on Half-Life: Alyx. In 2021, it was the codename for that title was HLX – now known as Project White Sands.

To back up the Half-Life 3 theory, data mining of Counter-Strike 2 and DOTA 2 reveals that the character in the upcoming game wears an HEV suit, goes off-world, and includes things like “Xengorillas, Xenjellyfish, and Xenswoopers.”

Valve will not confirm Half-Life 3 or any upcoming game until it’s ready for release. When that’s going to be is anyone’s guess.
