Elden Ring, the upcoming action RPG from developers FromSoftware, will release early 2022, and below we have put together what little we know about the game.

WHAT IS ELDEN RING?

 

Elden Ring is an action role-playing game by FromSoftware, the developer behind the Dark Souls games.

The game is a collaborative effort between George R. R. Martin, author of Game of Thrones, and game designer, director, and writer Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the Souls series.

Martin was responsible for writing the game’s background that Miyazaki and his team used when creating their monsters, story, and environments.

You can choose your skills and weapons and combine them to create a unique playstyle. Skills are not exclusively attached to certain weapons like they are in Dark Souls.

There is also a magic system, and you are free to learn spells and use them alongside weapons and skills.

Of course, just as with Dark Souls, combat will be challenging, unforgiving, and feature some massive bosses in the form of demigods.

A GIANT WORLD TO EXPLORE

 

The game takes place in The Lands Between, six separate areas representing a domain of the six demigods and housing a dungeon map.

You can explore and tackle the areas and their bosses however you wish, although some parts of the map unlock later in the game.

There are plenty of things to discover when you’re exploring too, such as castles and fortresses.

The game also features a time and weather system with a full day and night cycle, which will make the open world much more immersive.

 

IS ELDEN RING MULTIPLAYER?

 

Yes. The game will support cooperative play for up to four players, and at the moment, it appears as though this will work similarly to Dark Souls, where you can summon friends to help you in an upcoming battle.

Elden Ring is set to release January 21, 2022, and will launch for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
