Since Geoff Keighley unveiled that mysterious statue in the desert, the internet has gone wild with theories. While the community was busy scrutinizing grains of sand, a different path emerged.

We have to remember the facts. Since the massive success of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian has been crystal clear: they are not making BG4.

The studio has repeatedly stated they want to return to their own universes, where they have total creative control.

What better playground than Divinity Original Sin? This is the saga that brought them to the summit of the RPG world in the first place. Divinity Original Sin 2 is still considered one of the most brilliant tactical RPGs of the last decade.

For many fans, seeing this franchise return with modern budgets and the technical skills learned during BG3’s development would be a dream come true. In retrospect, skipping D&D to focus on their own masterpiece might be the most logical sequel of all.

While the world waits for the curtain to rise, the evidence is mounting. Larian returning to Rivellon with the power of the BG3 engine could be the generation-defining RPG we didn’t know we needed.
