Diablo 4 on Switch 2? Clues Point to a Possible Release

Diablo 4 is the latest action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment, released in 2023. Even though it is not the most popular Diablo game, it is still played by many. Currently, the game is only available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, with no Nintendo version so far. Since early 2025, there have been rumors about a possible Switch 2 port, but nothing ever came of it. Now, we have new leaks pointing to Diablo 4 coming to the Switch 2.

Rumors About a Switch 2 Version – What’s Behind It

Back in 2025, the first insider leaks suggested that Diablo 4 was in development for the Nintendo Switch 2. These leaks appeared shortly after the reveal of the Switch 2, but so far there has been no release or official announcement. However, the rumors kept resurfacing, making it quite likely that the game has been in development since 2025. Blizzard manager Rod Fergusson also stated that he sees a “big opportunity” for a port. From a technical standpoint, this would also be possible on the relatively powerful Switch 2.

Now there is new information, as Blizzard has submitted Diablo 4 to the Indonesian age rating authority. More specifically, the new expansion “Lord of Hatred” is mentioned for the Nintendo Switch. This suggests that the Switch 2 port could launch alongside the new DLC. Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred is set to release on April 28, 2026 for consoles and PC, and we will likely learn more about the Switch 2 port on that date.

Challenges for Diablo 4 on the Switch 2

Diablo 4 requires a constant online connection and a stable internet connection. This makes it difficult to play the game on the go, which could be a major downside for many players. A solution such as an offline mode or something similar would be needed. Diablo 3 also had an always online requirement at launch, but this was later removed and was not included for consoles. Perhaps we could see an optional console mode soon that allows offline play while traveling.
