About Void Bastards

Void Bastards is a revolutionary first-person shooting game inspired by BioShock and System Shock 2 (both action and shooting games). Though the game inspires you to test your aim, it does not mean you just point and shoot. Test your skills and think like a genius because as you go through the unforgiving path of the Sargasso Nebula, you will be expected to die sooner or later. Your challenge is to survive, be stronger and lead the misfit prisoners of the Void Ark through the derelict spaceships and myriad dangers of the Nebula!

• Lead the rag-tag void bastards out of the Nebula. To them, you are an asset. To the nebula, you are a liability.
• Plan your mission onboard the spaceships, take note of the layout of the ship, and be aware of the hazards and dangers you may encounter inside.
• The game demands you to think during critical situations. Will you sacrifice a million lives just to save one, or will you leave some to save millions?
• In the game, there is a possibility of winning supplies. Use them properly to improvise tools and weapons, from the distracting robo-kitty to the horribly unstable clusterflak.
• Void Bastards features a not-so-long campaign of 12-15 hours. Complete them with an endless supply of prisoners, each with their own characteristics and abilities. When one dies, another one will carry on and take the task. Do not worry as the progress will continue to the next bastard.

Void Bastards is a fantastic roguelike with a stellar atmosphere and art style. Where it lacks in FPS mechanics, it makes up for with its addictive gameplay loop. The Switch port might not be the prettiest version available, but the short levels make it perfect for quick sessions. Those looking for a darkly funny roguelike will find almost everything they want in Void Bastards.

Overall, Void Bastards isn’t just a beautiful-looking game, but one that is incredibly entertaining to play. It mixes humour, style, and a good mix of stealth and action gameplay to make for something unique and well worth your time. It doesn’t last as long as some roguelikes out there, but its campaign is still well worth playing through at least once.

Void Bastards was everything I wanted as a huge roguelike fan. The first-person shooter aspects are surprisingly competent, gameplay loop is perfectly challenging, always keeping you on your toes, and the aesthetic and sound design are out of this world.
