The big new feature in this third game in the Outlast series is four-player co-op. The game is designed for this, with players taking on the role of volunteer guinea pigs in a map that is as gloomy and scary as ever. There are no direct confrontations: infiltration, stealth, observation... You can equip yourself with various tools, which encourages cooperation and each team member to take on a different role. For me, it's a success.

Although I don't enjoy horror genre as much as before, I still find The Outlast Trials to be a great addition to the series. Featuring co-op mode, this opus breath a new life to the famous franchise. It became a lot more stressful and fun at the same time, as you're no longer alone in your journey. But will you survive the treatment at Murkoff? That's not gonna be easy!

The Outlast Trials was released as early access on PC a few months ago with the full launch approaching. It's an horror PvE game where you can play alone or with up to three more friends in different maps while trying to complete the objectives of the experiments and escape. Each experiments has different objectives and enemies that you need to hide from or escape, with an array of different tools to slow them down.
