One thing is sure and it is that Stranger than Heaven is a very strange game. We will follow the adventures of Makoto in 5 different japanese cities and eras, covering 50 years up to 1965 in Shinjuku. The gameplay is a mix of yakuzas and music creation, as our guy is just trying to survive and that means doing dirty jobs. The best part is the representation of the 5 eras in every city, the population and the setting is just perfect, so the game is also a history time travel, visually perfect
The game's presentation is jaw-dropping. A Japanese-American character spans five decades, from 1915 to 1965, in a beat ’em up where our beloved Yakuza tries to collect sounds to shine and achieve his goals... It’s a strange setup, to say the least. But I applaud the originality and the offbeat approach. It’s hard to make games where fighting takes center stage more appealing.
