Never Alone is an atmospheric puzzle platformer game developed by Upper One Games and E-Line Media, experience the epic journey of Nuna and Fox as they look for the source of an eternal blizzard that’s threatening the survival of everything they have ever known. Made in collaboration with the Native Iñupiat people from Alaska based on their traditional stories that has been shared across generations. Sometimes I’ll find myself frustrated with the way history has played out. It’s easy for me to harbour anger about the past, and for me to seek some catharsis to ease that racial anger. Never Alone offers a different path though. Recipes can be shared. Lessons can be taught. Words can be spoken. For the first time, I’m beginning to think today’s an awful day to die. We still have so much work to do, but now I know I’m kisima ingitchuna.

It makes me truly happy to see game developers creating high quality products such as Never Alone that push entertainment boundaries and demonstrate that games can be culturally important. We need to see more of this game, and I hope this is a roaring success so that other native culture organisations look at it and realise the sheer power of games to tell their own stories.
