Insider point to a State of Play in February with Marvel’s Wolverine as the biggest reveal

Sony is finally breaking its silence. After Xbox kicked off the year with Forza Horizon 6 and Fable updates, and with Nintendo gearing up for February, all eyes are on PlayStation. Two reliable insiders have now corroborated the same intel: a major showcase is imminent.


State of Play Sources: February 2026 Locked In

The initial spark came from NateTheHate. When asked on Twitter if a February event was happening, his response was a direct “Yes.” While Nate confirmed the month, industry heavyweight Jeff Grubb provided the specific window during the Game Mess Mornings.

According to Grubb’s sources, Sony targets the week of February 12, 2026.

Historically, Sony prefers Thursday broadcasts for these events. This aligns perfectly with Grubb’s timeline. This would be the first “major” State of Play since September 2025, as the November broadcast focused strictly on Asian and indie partners. The drought is officially ending.


PS5 Rumored Lineup: Wolverine, Naughty Dog, and More

The timing suggests Sony needs to outline its roadmap for the rest of 2026. The most aggressive rumors point to Marvel’s Wolverine. Insomniac Games has been quiet, and a release date reveal here makes tactical sense.

Other first-party heavyweights potentially in the mix include Saros and the live-service heist game Fairgame$, which has been missing in action since 2023.

Speculation also surrounds Naughty Dog. Fans are desperate for a proper look at Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Additionally, whispers of a God of War spin-off—described as a metroidvania style project—refuse to die down.

On the third-party front, Capcom could use this stage to spotlight Resident Evil Requiem or remind players about Monster Hunter Stories 3. Square Enix, a frequent Sony collaborator, might bring updates on Kingdom Hearts 4 or the rumored Final Fantasy IX Remake.
