Where Winds Meet, the stunning wuxia-inspired open-world RPG from NetEase, arrives free on PS5 this November. Discover how this ambitious title blends martial arts mastery, cinematic storytelling, and fair free-to-play design.
PlayStation players are in for a year-end surprise — Where Winds Meet, a breathtaking RPG from NetEase and Everstone Studios, will launch free on PS5 starting November 14, 2025.
A New Kind of Open-World Adventure on PS5
Set in 10th-century China, Where Winds Meet invites players into a world shaped by wuxia, the legendary martial-arts genre celebrating honor, freedom, and poetic combat. You play as a young sword master on a personal quest for identity, navigating a realm of mysticism, duels, and moral choices.
Cinematic inspiration meets freedom of play — with Where Winds Meet combining the visual artistry of Ghost of Tsushima and the stealth-driven mechanics reminiscent of Assassin’s Creed. The story promises a living, dynamic world with stunning landscapes, expressive NPCs, and choices that shape your legend: “Let the wind carry your legend on an epic journey to the East!,” teases the developer.
No Pay-to-Win: A Fair Free-to-Play Philosophy
Amid player concerns about monetization, NetEase assures fans that Where Winds Meet will adopt a 100% cosmetic economic model. No “pay-to-win,” no gameplay advantages — only aesthetic customization options for those who wish to personalize their experience.
Players can preload the game on the PlayStation Store starting November 12, while an optional 17.99€ DLC offers 48-hour early access for the most impatient adventurers. By focusing on fairness and immersion rather than aggressive monetization, NetEase positions Where Winds Meet as one of the most player-friendly free titles on the market.

Cross-Platform Access for All Players
While Where Winds Meet shines brightest on PS5, it will also be available on PC, Mac, and mobile (Android/iOS). This cross-platform reach ensures that a wide audience can explore its vibrant world without hardware limitations. The PS5 version, however, stands out with enhanced performance, ray-traced visuals, and DualSense haptics that make every sword clash feel tangible.
Bringing Wuxia to the West: A Cinematic Masterpiece in the Making
Few Western releases have truly captured the soul of wuxia storytelling, but Where Winds Meet might change that. With choreographed combat, deep exploration, and multiplayer features, it bridges Eastern philosophy and Western game design.
While the likes of Ghost of Tsushima emphasized solitude and introspection, NetEase’s take instead add a social multiplayer layer, letting players experience martial brotherhoods and shared quests. This bold mix of tradition, emotion, and innovation could mark a turning point for the free-to-play genre — showing that quality and accessibility can coexist.
Legend has it that every martial artist in the Jianghu has mastered their own secret techniques—arts so mysterious they allow one to breathe fire or mend wounds. These extraordinary abilities are known as Mystic Arts.#WhereWindsMeet pic.twitter.com/kGjg8v5Cs4

I still have my doubts about the monetization being cosmetics only, Where Winds Meet looks very high quality for a free game, but definitely gives me gacha vibes. It wouldn't be necessarily a bad thing but I won't have to wait much to try the game for myself.
