Project Breakout Launches in April

Solo developer maxkerpen has announced that his upcoming sandbox prison escape game, Project Breakout, is set to launch on April 15, 2026 for PC via Steam. To make the launch extra special, the game will debut with a 25% discount during its first week. Project Breakout is a sandbox prison escape simulation where players are placed inside a simulated prison and must find their own way to freedom. Players can choose to follow the daily routine by training their strength, stamina, speed, and intelligence, or take prison jobs to earn money while blending in with the system. At the same time, they can secretly plan an escape by stealing from prisoners and guards, crafting tools and weapons, and studying security routines to exploit weaknesses. Escape methods can include cutting through fences, blowing up weak walls, or digging underground tunnels.

The game features five handcrafted prisons, more than 150 items, over 80 crafting recipes, and a progression system that rewards successful escapes with experience and money used to unlock permanent skills and starting gear. It also includes a built-in map editor for designing custom prisons, Steam Workshop support for sharing creations, and online co-op that allows up to four players to attempt escapes together.
