Reports indicate that NVIDIA has revived production of the RTX 3060, opting to utilize Samsung’s 8nm node to sidestep the massive congestion at TSMC, following the focus on AI.

For gamers who have been priced out by the premium retail price of current-gen cards, this revival offers a rare second chance.

By tapping into a mature manufacturing process, NVIDIA can flood the shelves without sacrificing the silicon needed for its flagship AI and gaming chips.

Why NVIDIA is Going Back to 8nm?

The logic here is that TSMC is currently a bottleneck. Every high-end RTX 5090 and AI-focused Blackwell chip competes for the same cutting-edge silicon.

By shifting the RTX 3060 back to Samsung’s 8nm node, NVIDIA can pump out thousands of mid-range GPUs without touching the supply lines for their flagship cards. It’s a way to keep the entry-level market alive while the premium retail price of newer tech continues to climb.
