Almost a year after launching Early Access, Grinding Gear Games is making a massive splash with “The Last of the Druids.” Arriving December 12, this major update for Path of Exile 2 introduces a shapeshifting class, a brand-new league, and a highly anticipated free trial weekend.

The Druid: 3 Forms to Destroy Everything
Starting December 12 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, you can finally play as the Druid. This versatile class defines itself by the ability to shapeshift at will.
Depending on the combat situation, you can transform into a wild wolf for speed, a destructive bear for raw power, or a wyvern to rain fire from the skies.
To support these transformations, two new Ascendancies will be available: the Oracle and the Shaman. Gameplay-wise, expect a completely new arsenal of skills and a Pinnacle boss that promises to be a nightmare.
“Fate of the Vaal” League
The content drop doesn’t stop there with the arrival of the “Fate of the Vaal” league. The core mechanic will task you with building your own temple, a feature throwing back to the best moments of the franchise.
You will have to face the Royal Architect and challenge a legendary threat: Atziri herself.
To support these additions, Grinding Gear Games has integrated a massive amount of technical and strategic updates:
- Over 30 new support gems (some linked to legacies).
- The addition of over 250 skill to the passive tree.
- A significant reduction in delirium fog for better visibility.
Free Trial: Is It Time to Jump In?
If you haven’t bought a Supporter Pack yet (starting at $30), now is the perfect time to try the game.
The studio confirmed a free trial period from December 12 to 15 across all platforms (Xbox, PS5, and PC).
This is a great opportunity to check out the performance improvements and global rebalancing before the game eventually shifts to its full Version 1.0 (Free-to-Play) release.
