The recently concluded Little Nightmares Showcase was everything fans could’ve hoped for, and then some. We didn’t just get a new trailer, fresh gameplay insights, and an official release date for Little Nightmares III. Bandai Namco went a step further and gave a heartfelt thank-you to the franchise’s most loyal fans. Owners of the original Little Nightmares from 2017 are getting a free upgrade to the brand-new Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition.

Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition Free Access
After 8 long years, the very first entry in the Little Nightmares series is finally getting the attention it deserves. Bandai Namco announced that Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition is officially on its way, bringing visual and performance upgrades that modern players will definitely appreciate.
This enhanced version comes packed with a list of visual improvements including RTX reflections, enhanced water effects and particle detail, and volumetric lighting. Fans can now experience Six’s story in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Set to launch alongside Little Nightmares III on October 10th, 2025, Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
So, who exactly gets free access? There are two main paths:
- Preorder Little Nightmares III – this grants you early access to the Enhanced Edition before the official launch.
- Own the original 2017 Little Nightmares – if you already own the first game, you’ll get the upgrade automatically upon launch.
Either way, you’re walking away with a free visual overhaul of a classic. And for the 2017 owners, October isn’t that far off especially with how stacked this year has been with incredible game releases.
However, it is important to note that the Enhanced Edition is only playable on next-gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), so while the entitlement will be tied to your user profile, you won’t be able to access it unless you’ve upgraded your hardware.
