B.J. Blazkowicz ready once again for one last fight in Wolfenstein 3

It’s been years since we left B.J. Blazkowicz hanging. And in an industry that loves canceling projects quietly, silence is usually a bad sign. But for fans of dual-wielding shotguns and alternate history nightmares, the radio silence from MachineGames just broke, revealing new details in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz.

The Trilogy Isn’t Dead Yet

There is a specific weight to the weapons in Wolfenstein. It’s heavy, mechanical, and loud. That sensory experience is what put MachineGames on the map back in 2014.

Since The New Colossus, we’ve had spin-offs, but the core trilogy remained unfinished. Jerk Gustafsson, the studio director, finally addressed the situation during a fresh interview for the studio’s 15th anniversary.

While he didn’t drop a release date, his words were exactly what we needed to hear: the intention was always to finish the trilogy. They aren’t done with the license.

Whether that happens now or later is the only mystery left. However, knowing the third chapter is still on the table changes everything. It means we aren’t just waiting for a ghost.

Survival of the Fittest: The Studio’s Strategy

While other studios are shuttering or drowning in layoffs, MachineGames is actually opening a new satellite office in Sundsvall, Sweden. How? By staying small.

Gustafsson confirmed they are keeping the headcount under 200. In an era of 1,000-person dev teams producing bloated open worlds, this “lean” approach is probably why the quality remains so tight. They are currently looking at “at least two games” in the pipeline. One is likely the Wolfenstein finale, potentially timed to launch alongside the confirmed Amazon TV series.

Rumors suggest the other might be a multiplayer tactical shooter similar to Rainbow Six Siege. Also, for the console handheld crowd: mark your calendars. The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is officially hitting shelves on May 12, 2026.

Patience Pays Off for Shooter Fans

MachineGames is in a rare position of stability. They have proven they understand single-player pacing better than almost anyone under the Microsoft umbrella. By keeping the team small and the scope focused, they are buying themselves the time needed to land the ending of the Wolfenstein saga properly.

If you haven’t played the first two, now is the time to grab a cheap key and catch up. The studio isn’t going anywhere, and neither is Blazkowicz.

Are you ready for one last round with the resistance, or has the moment passed?
