Lies of P developer Neowiz has revealed further updates are coming to the game and its recently released Overture DLC, including a reduction in difficulty, after player feedback. Lies of P: Overture was shadow-dropped during Summer Game Fest on June 6, 2025, for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Soulslike Lies of P received a surprise DLC, Overture, on June 6, which fans responded to by smashing its concurrent player rating on Steam. However, one particular aspect that caught the attention of developer Neowiz, following player feedback, is the game’s difficulty level. As a result, a nerf to the difficulty is coming in an upcoming patch.
In a letter to fans, the game’s director, Ji Won Choi, stated that the developers are “paying the closest attention to the combat experience” following the release of the DLC.
What’s Changing in the Update?
The reviews for the Lies of P: Overture DLC are extremely positive on Steam, with many calling it a “great DLC.” While the expansion brought new content and many changes to the base game with it, including new difficulty settings, quality-of-life improvements, and the Boss Rematch System, some players are finding the DLC too hard.
Speaking to fans on YouTube, the game’s director, Ji Won Choi, revealed the developer is reviewing all feedback since Overture’s release and will focus on a “difficulty reduction” after it “identified some areas that did not turn out quite as planned.” Choi fell short of announcing an expected release date for the patch but promised to share details as soon as the team can.
Why Players Wanted a Nerf
Lies of P: Overture has already proven to be a unique addition to the Soulslike genre, adding two new difficulty modes to the base game, both of which lower the difficulty. Overture’s upcoming patch will reduce the difficulty even further. Many expect it to focus on New Game+, which is causing first-time playthroughs of the DLC to be more punishing than intended.
The Overture content is only available from the ninth chapter of the main game, meaning many players are attempting it for the first time in NG+. The difficulty spike from NG+ and the increased difficulty of the DLC is causing frustration among players. One player on Steam stated: “I’m at level 300 and should not be getting 2- shot from basic enemies.” Another player sums up the overall feeling by saying: “Enemy damage output is absolutely insane.”
What’s Coming for Lies of P
While many will feel reducing a game’s difficulty reduces the challenge, Lies of P developer Neowiz views it as an essential tweak to make the game more accessible without compromising its pacing, narrative, or gameplay.
Director Ji Won Choi has not given fans a release date for the patch, but he has promised more details as soon as they become available. In the meantime, Lies of P is enjoying its best success thanks to the recent Overture launch. You can be a part of it by picking up a game key from our store pages below.
