Today is finally the day. Dreadzone officially launches in Early Access on Steam, transporting you into a brutal quarantine zone full of zombies, mutants, and deadly dangers. It’s a survival action game set in an open world with intense crafting and uncompromising combat.

Dreadzone Release & Background

Today, on June 17, 2025 around 4 PM UTC, Dreadzone finally releases. The game was originally planned for June 26, but since that date coincided with the start of the Steam Summer Sale, the developers feared their game wouldn’t stand out enough and decided to release it a week later. The developer and publisher is the indie studio Eshed, and this is their first game. The title is launching in Early Access exclusively on Steam.

Genre, Setting & Atmosphere

Dreadzone is set in the year 2030, when humanity is on the brink of collapse. A virus has spread across the globe. This virus, Zeno-29, transforms the infected into terrifying mutants. To counter the threat, the government has established several isolated zones where the infected are sent.

You too have been infected with the virus and have been sent into such a quarantine zone. The area is secluded and filled with abandoned factories, destroyed houses, underground hideouts, and plenty of dangers. Your only goal is to survive while the virus slowly takes control of you.

Dreadzone Gameplay Mechanics

In Dreadzone, you have a large open world to freely explore. You can collect resources anywhere in the wilderness or in locations like the factories. With these materials, you can craft weapons and tools to become stronger. You can also build a shelter where you’re safe and can store your supplies.

Of course, you’ll also have to fight in this harsh world. You can use melee attacks with weapons like axes or fight with firearms. Your enemies are primarily zombies and mutated animals, but you can optionally face other players in PvP or co-op. There is a well-balanced mix of solo survival and group interactions.

Early Access – Opportunities & Goals

Dreadzone is now launching in Early Access on Steam. The studio is a small indie team without major investors, external funding, crowdfunding, or pre-orders. This is a passion project for the developers. They don’t aim to compete with AAA or AA titles but simply to create something unique. Over time, the developers want to listen to community feedback to build the perfect game together.
