About a month out from the official launch, the global go-ahead for the Black Ops 7 Beta finally drops today, with fans getting to try out the multiplayer of the new Call of Duty chapter. But there are a few things you need to do to get access.
The Universal Launch
Following the 3-day Early Access period, today we finally get the green light for the Free-to-Play Phase of the Multiplayer Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. This phase kicks off today, Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 7:00 PM CEST. It will run until October 8, also at 7:00 PM CEST.
Didn’t pre-order the new Black Ops 7? Don’t sweat it. We’ve put together a complete guide to download the client and make sure your system is ready to go. Even though Beta Access is free, there are a few technical and subscription requirements to get in on the action.
The When and What: Open Access
Open Access, meaning free access to the Beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, starts today. Here’s the deal:
- Start: Sunday, October 5 at 7:00 PM CEST (10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM BST).
- End: Wednesday, October 8
- Duration: The transition from Early Access to Open Access is seamless, letting everyone jump into the action tonight.
This gives you 4 days to try out the Multiplayer and Zombies Beta of the new chapter. You can learn the basic movements and skills in the Training Course, complete with omnidirectional movement. Then jump into the 6 Core Multiplayer maps or the Zombie Survival Map, Vandorn Farm.

The “How”: Free Access and Download Instructions
Now that we know when Open Access starts and ends, you’ll need to get ready ahead of time for Access. This section is all about how to get in and the technical fine print for PC and consoles.
- Universal Access and Download: The best part about the Open Beta is that you don’t need pre-orders, codes, or a Game Pass subscription to download the client. Just grab the client available on the main platforms (PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, Battle.net).
- Pro Tip: We recommend checking the available space on your drive. Historically, Call of Duty installations are pretty hefty (around 60GB on a PC SSD). Use the pre-load option (where available) to make sure the game is ready to launch right at 7 PM CEST.

A Heads-Up for PC and Console
Although the game client is totally free to download, there are 2 important requirements to meet depending on your platform:
- PC Players: The Critical Anti-Cheat Check. The upgraded version of the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system requires that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are enabled in your PC’s BIOS.
- Failing this check will block your access to the Beta. To find out how to activate it and check if your PC is ready, check out our dedicated guide to TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for Black Ops 7.
- Console Players: The Online Subscription Cost. If you’re playing on PlayStation or Xbox, you’ll need an active subscription to access the online multiplayer servers. This is a requirement from the console platforms, not the game itself.
- So you’ll need a PlayStation®Plus subscription on PS4/PS5, and a Game Pass Core (or Ultimate) subscription on Xbox.
Conclusion and Last-Minute Checklist
Tonight, we get final and most accessible access to the Black Ops 7 Beta. For many players, this Beta will be just a click away—all you have to do is hit “Download” on your platform. Just make sure before the 7:00 PM CEST launch that you’ve enabled TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot on PC, or that you have an active subscription for online services on Console (PS Plus or Game Pass Core).
This is your risk-free chance to get your hands on the Multiplayer experience of the new CoD. Get your systems ready and join the Beta servers starting at 7:00 PM CEST today!
