DICE Admits Battlefield 6 Vehicles Are “Death Traps”

DICE has officially admitted that certain vehicles in Battlefield 6 are, in their own words, “death traps.” To fix the ongoing issue, the developer is preparing to launch a Battlefield Labs test as it looks to make “improvements” to vehicles.

DICE Admits Battlefield 6 Vehicles Are

While the “Contaminated” season brought an atmospheric map and gritty infantry play to Battlefield 6, the vehicle-to-infantry balance has remained a glaring sore spot.

Now, DICE has admitted to PC Gamer that light vehicles in BF6 are somewhat “death traps” and has told players to look out for a Battlefield Labs test that will go live soon, testing “some vehicle improvements.”

Battlefield Labs: Can DICE Finally Balance the Sandbox?

The focus on the upcoming Battlefield Labs test is squarely on light armor and transports, DICE told PC Gamer. Right now, these vehicles lack the mobility to escape or the health pools to endure a focused assault.

EA and DICE plan to address the issue by testing aggressive buffs. While we don’t know what these buffs will be, the developers want these vehicles to serve their purpose, getting the squad to the fight, rather than being easy XP for the enemy team.

Season 2 “Contaminated”: A Dark Turn for Battlefield 6

The recent Battlefield 6 Season 2 launch redefined the game’s aesthetic and tactical pace. Shifting away from the high-tech urban sprawl of the base maps, Season 2 introduced “Contaminated” map, which is a large-scale map available across Conquest, Breakthrough, Escalation, Squad Death Match, and Strikepoint.

The new map emphasizes on close-quarters infantry combat while there’s also space for land vehicles and helicopters, including the new Little Bird.

Season 2 also expanded the arsenal with three new weapons: the GRT-CPS semi-auto marksman rifle, the belt-fed M121 A2 LMG, and the VCR-2 AR.

A Tactical Retreat or a Brilliant Recovery?

Is the upcoming vehicle improvement test on Battlefield Labs enough to save the game’s reputation? It’s a massive step in the right direction.

By admitting the vehicle sandbox is broken, DICE is regaining the trust of its core players as the FPS struggles to retain the massive player numbers it had at launch.
