Fallout collab power armors are dominating the battlefield in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

If you launched Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 or Warzone recently, you couldn’t miss the massive content drop from the collaboration with the Fallout TV series. While the content is undeniably huge, a loud portion of the player base claims this partnership is ripping the soul out of Call of Duty.

Also learn about the release plans for the Call of Duty series going forward!

Fallout Takes Over Black Ops 7

To mark the launch of Season 1 Reloaded, Activision dumped a truckload of Fallout-themed mechanics into the ecosystem. New experiences hit the endgame, multiplayer, and Zombies modes in Black Ops 7, but Warzone received the most drastic overhaul.

The new Power Armor Royale mode drops 66 players into trios on an irradiated version of Verdansk. Power Armor suits fall from the sky, turning operators into walking tanks.

It’s not just a skin. The update completely overhauls the HUD to mimic the Fallout interface. Players can fly using the armor’s jetpacks and even launch tactical nukes.

One specific endgame clip circulating on X (formerly Twitter) has amassed over 6.8 million views, fueling a heated debate about the franchise’s direction.

“Is This Fortnite?” The CoD Identity Crisis

This isn’t Activision’s first time straying from military realism—remember the Squid Game events? But for many, the Fallout crossover is the breaking point. The comparison to Fortnite is trending heavily among the community.

Here is what frustrated veterans are saying:

I thought it was Fortnite until the ‘Warzone Victory’ message popped up.”

Wait, is this actually Call of Duty right now?”

Call of Duty has lost its identity. I miss the old war campaigns.”

Even Mike Ybarra, former president of Blizzard Entertainment, weighed in. He mocked a recent Activision statement, commenting: “Staying ‘true’ to CoD lol.”

Broken Promises for Black Ops 7

Ybarra’s comment targets a specific declaration from September 2025. A Call of Duty developer previously stated that several collaborations with “big names” were canceled specifically to “remain faithful to the identity of Call of Duty and its universe.”

This pivot contradicts the strategy seen in Battlefield 6, which marketed itself heavily on grounded, franchise-consistent skins. Activision now faces a dilemma: chase the viral trends or respect the milsim roots.

Verdict: Is the BO7 Crossover Worth It?

Despite the backlash regarding visual identity, the gameplay mechanics in Power Armor Royale offer a chaotic, fresh twist on the standard BR formula.

If you are curious but hesitant to pay full price, remember that Black Ops 7 is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. This is the smartest way to test the irradiated waters without committing $70.

Does adding jetpacks and Power Armor ruin the Call of Duty feel for you, or is it just harmless fun?
