Spellcaster University is a fantasy-themed base building/school sim developed by Sneaky Yak Studio, take on the role of the director of a magic university in a colorful world of heroic fantasy. Develop your school, manage your budget, recruit teachers, etc. Are you going to turn it into a black magic academy with professors of necromancy or demonology? Or a place of harmony with nature to train druids and shamans? But whatever you choose, be wary of orc tribal raids and the controls of the education authorities.
A cute and quirky management sim with lots of character. Lacks some polishing but is quite well done otherwise.
Despite some issues, Spellcaster University is a fun, casual and unique experience that is worth trying for fans of its many genres. However, I could not help but feel that the small studio spread itself thin by mashing together different mechanics. As Sneaky Yak Studio will continue the active development of Spellcaster University for the foreseeable future, they will hopefully solve some of the issues that bring down an otherwise good debut game.
It is a game that makes you think, whilst having that ability to have a relaxed solo gaming session. It would have been great to maybe see the darkness actually come to your university and attack. Even if this was just a short bit of footage. Having said that, it doesn’t detract anything from the slightly magical gameplay. I award Spellcaster University a Thumb Culture Silver Award.

This game is really fun. The management is relatively flexible and allows us to test different strategies. The really positive point of the game is the humour everywhere (events, the descriptions of the buildings, the attitudes of the students and so on) and looks like private jokes.
