Today we’re talking about the zombie game 7 Days To Die. The game spent over 10 years in Early Access before it was officially released in 2024. And now, in exactly one month, 7 Days to Die V2.0 Storms Brewing is launching. This new major update introduces exciting new features.

7 Days to Die Storms Brewing Release and Technical Changes in V2.0
On June 16, 2025, an experimental version of the new update will be released. Then, two weeks later, on June 30, the stable version will launch officially. If you want an early look at the update, you can tune into the developer livestream on June 10 or watch streamer previews from June 13-15.
The update brings new audio effects, Twitch Drop outfits, and revamped vegetation. Zombies will now be able to crawl through openings smaller than one meter. On top of that, over 50 new Points of Interest are being added, along with fully reworked areas.
Weather, Biomes & Environmental Hazards – How Gameplay Changes
7 Days To Die V2.0 Storms Brewing introduces, as the name suggests, new storms. A brand-new dynamic weather system is now in place, varying across biomes. This brings new danger zones where survival becomes even tougher. Because of the new weather, you’ll need shelters and new gear.
Biomes in the game will also change significantly. As the game progresses, you’ll move through increasingly difficult biomes. Each one presents new challenges, so you can craft temporary buffs to survive in the harsh conditions.
Biomes include threats like radiation, smoke, extreme heat/cold, and more. Buffs are essential here. But if you manage to overcome the challenges in these zones, you’ll unlock permanent resistances — providing further progression and long-term benefits.
New Zombies & Weapons: More Danger, More Options
There are also exciting changes when it comes to zombies. As mentioned, zombies can now crawl under objects lower than one meter. But that’s not all. Two new zombie types are being introduced: “Charged Blue” and “Infernal Orange.” These are similar to the “Green Radiated” zombies already in the game, but come with different behaviors. These new types are more likely to appear in the late game.
There are also updates to weapons. A new Sledgehammer weapon class has been added, complete with its own book series. The perk system has also been revised — there’s now a “General Tab,” and previously empty slots in the attribute list have been filled.
Co-op Play & Crossplay Development
There’s good news for co-op players too. A new feature now allows you to spawn near your friends. Crossplay on dedicated servers has also been mentioned. However, the developers aren’t sure yet whether this will work, as certification is needed on each platform. So stay hopeful. Also, wilderness spawn locations have been improved in general.
