Bringing us into a post-apocalyptic future with an epidemic in the city of Harran, turning its inhabitants into the infected. This was followed by a solid sequel in 2022.

Dying Light: The Beast – Techland Presents its Gameplay Overview

Following the announcement of the delay of Dying Light: The Beast’s initial launch in August, the Techland team is gearing up for the game’s debut. With The Beast being the new chapter in the famous open-world action zombie series. It launches on 19 September 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

The team has also dropped a new video dedicated to the new gameplay. Focusing on the new features and improvements to the experience. With commentary from Director Tymon Smektala along with Technical Game Director, Kacper Kowalczuk. Where Parkour remains at the core of the experience with new tweaks, and an even more brutal combat system.

Dying Light: The Beast – What’s New with Parkour and Combat

From what the Techland team confirms, The Beast improves on those two aspects so loved by players. Delivering an even more immersive experience, but with more realistic physics and giving room for creativity. Specifically, we have:

  • Parkour: Enhanced with more realistic jump physics and, notably, infinite stamina. We’ll get to try this out in Castor Woods, with up-close zombie encounters. And tons of new animations for an endless Parkour experience, with a whopping 17 animations just for climbing ledges.
  • Combat: Bringing tons of new animations for Kyle, giving a strong impact and weight to weapons. But also more reactive and precise zombie animations depending on the type of hit received. Plus, a revamp of zombies to be even more ferocious and able to react and counter-attack. Making use of the Beast Mode and Stealth to get the upper hand.

An interesting note is that the new stamina system in The Beast was recently brought over to Dying Light 2. With the 19 August 2025 infinite stamina update. Meanwhile, the team also confirms an even smarter AI, with military forces able to use cover dynamically rather than in a scripted way, with a total of 22 strategies and approaches.

In Conclusion

So, we’re now less than 2 weeks away from the debut of The Beast. With a new chapter that will see us once again in the shoes of Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the first game. Seeking revenge for the experiments he suffered at the hands of the mysterious Baron. The adventure arrives on 19 September 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
