About Smelter

Smelter is a 2D action strategic action platformer game inspired by classics from the 16-bit era developed by X PLUS Co., Ltd. Step into the shoes of Eve fresh out of Eden after the untimely destruction of Eden, she finds herself in an unfamiliar world with Adam nowhere to be found. In her search she encounters Smelter an unusually over-confident winged creature with the powerful ability to transform and fuse with others, giving them incredible powers. Together expand the smelters territory to reach further into the various domains to find out what happened to her Adam.

God is a Geek

The strategy gameplay is somewhat shallow and confusing, but once you understand the mechanics it’s pretty simple to succeed. Strategy fans looking for a meaty title to sink their teeth into will be disappointed, especially if they aren’t good at platforming games. On the other hand, 2D platformer fans should definitely give this a try. They’ll certainly be happy with half of the game and they might end up getting some enjoyment from the strategy part of the game as well like I did.

We worried that we’d never get to play another Actraiser: a game that was foolish enough to twist platforming around RTS bits. But what we have is so much more. Smelter is leagues ahead of its ageing relative and deserves all the success that it (hopefully) gets. Smelter is a belter.
