REVIEWS

No One Lives Under the Lighthouse is an enjoyably dark, surprising adventure that is well worth a look for those in the market for something a little obtuse, yet different.

Xbox Tavern

Original and intriguing while at the same time being strange and beguiling, No One Lives Under the Lighthouse works some old-school visuals in the best of ways.

TheXboxHub

No One Lives Under the Lighthouse is a solid low-budget indie horror that aims a little too high with its gameplay mechanics. They only happen in certain endings, and its short run time means any horror fan will gladly seek them all out. At a $12 MSRP it is a no brainer if you enjoy getting the shit scared out of you.

Finally coming to Xbox Series X/S, No one lives under the lighthouse is a title made by a 3 man studio of Marevo Collective, and is one of those retro-looking like low poly horror game that actually has a pretty interesting underground story. In the title we'll play as the new lighthouse keeper, who'll have to work at the lighthouse after the previous keeper decided to quit. Here we'll have to do various daily task and maintaining the place, for it to work properly. We'll be the only human on the island, and nothing much will happen during the first few days, but soon enough we'll realize little by little (depending how keen your eyes are) that something is very off in this place, nonetheless we'll have to do our duty while trying to both survive and uncover its mysteries. Visually it tries to replicate that old PS1 like experience (warping excluded), by usage of low poly that often make things harder to figure out, but also "clear" enough to recognize most of the places and objects. As far as gameplay goes, we'll have light task to do, along with simple puzzles and few sections where we'll be able to use a weapon. There are definitely a few interesting choices in the story and a really creepy atmosphere, totally well crafted on audio level thanks to the enviromental sounds, blending with our "working" sounds. Although there are a few weird sounds here and there which are confusing enough to make the player wander if he's truly alone in this island. The game is on the short side, with about 2-3 hours in the first playthrough, a bit less when we're comfortable and know what to do. But there are 3 endings in total, with the last one requiring to complete certain tasks to unlock the truth of the place and safely leave it.
