BrownDust2 Steam Release Was Shutdown After Reaching 200k Wishlists

BrownDust2 cancels its Steam launch after having issues with the platform’s policy requirements. Previously announced rewards will still be delivered.

BrownDust2 from GAMFS N was on its way to release on December 16th, carrying over 200k wishlists. However, Steam pulled the game a couple of days ago and from the looks of it, without the knowledge of the team.

BrownDust2 Release Pulled A Week from Launch

Well, another one bites the dust. BrownDust2, a popular mobile game which features mature content, was scheduled to release on Steam on December 16, 2025. From when it was announced to just a few days ago, the game already hit 200k Wishlist, clearly showing there’s a demand for it.

But as Steam tightens its censorship, BrownDust2 was suddenly pulled off from the platform. Many fans were expecting some kind of censorship but not take out the whole thing. And to be essentially cancelled just a week before the launch date was also a bit shocking.

As the Steam page disappeared, many fans reached out to GAMFS N asking what happened. The studio then shared on their website that they’ve identified the issue and are in communication with Steam to resolve the issue. This message was still titled “Temporary Access Restriction to BrownDust2 STEAM Store & Community.”

But then after 2 days, they posted an official notice that BrownDust2 will no longer continue with the Steam release. Basically, not temporary anymore. They shared that the issue was with the platform’s policy requirements and that they chose not to make the adjustments to make the launch possible. They further explained that they intend to “preserve the game’s core direction and overall quality.”

As unfortunate as this news is, they are still considering alternative PC platforms for BrownDust2. Also, they’re still coming through with all previously announced rewards including Steam community event rewards and Wishlist milestones. These will be sent after the December 16th update.
