Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian (ResRW) is the new chapter in the famous Fantasy JRPG series from Koei Tecmo. A series developed by the Gust team that first debuted back in 1997. This time, it brings a new chapter to the Resleriana series, which was introduced as a gacha-style experience with Forgotten Alchemy & the Liberator of Polar Night in 2023 in Japan and globally in 2024.
However, that chapter closed on March 28, 2025 due to a lack of success. The team had already been working on The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian for some time. This time, they’re bringing a more classic experience, but also with a management aspect and cameo characters from the series. One year after the official announcement, today finally marks the launch of Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian. The new chapter in the famous alchemy-themed fantasy JRPG series from Gust and Koei Tecmo. A chapter that relaunches the Resleriana series by bringing a classic standard experience, which debuts today:
- September 26, 2025, on PS5, PS4 (Japan only), Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Featuring a fantastic new adventure that integrates some components from the Resleriana gacha game. We’ll follow the new duo and childhood friends, Rias Eidreise and Slade Clauslyter. Exploring what’s left of their childhood city of Hallfein. With the goal of bringing the city back to life and uncovering the mysteries that led to the mysterious disappearance of its inhabitants.
Atelier Resleriana: Gameplay and Key Features
ResRW presents itself as a chapter with a more classic experience for the series. It integrates the Alchemy mechanics, which were previously less relevant in the recent Yumia. At the same time, it incorporates the city management mechanics from Forgotten Alchemy & the Liberator of Polar Night. Thus offering:
- Exploration: Explore the land of Lantarna, with the city of Hallfein at the center of the story. Discover and find new resources and face the mysterious Dimensional Paths. Multi-level dungeons filled with rare resources and enemies to fight.
- Characters: Along with the duo of Rias and Slade, we’ll have many familiar faces from across the series. With protagonists Totori and Sophie, Raze (Mana Khemia 2), and the apprentice witch Wilbell as companions. Not to mention numerous secondary characters including Ryza, Ayesha, Marlone, and many others.
- Combat and Synthesis: Featuring classic JRPG-style turn-based combat with a strategic touch, using moves like Multi-Actions, Item Mix, and more. And a strong return of Synthesis as a main mechanic, which uses the new Gift Colour Synthesis system. By linking the Gift Colour of the ingredients, we can transfer properties to the final product.
- Shops and City Development: Sell your synthesized or gathered products in the shop. The money you earn can be spent to help restore the city. Unlock new books with new recipes, thus advancing the story.
We’re also left with the trailer that delves into the city and shops mechanic. We’ll have the 5 districts of Hallfein to manage and invest in. As well as a showcase of the shop run by Fairies. Where we can choose the items to sell, the prices, and see the results of our efforts with the city’s restoration.
