Counterplay Games, the developer of looter-slasher RPG Godfall, has officially revealed its next game, Armatus, a brutal, fast-paced third-person roguelite shooter set in a demon-infested Paris.

Counterplay’s upcoming Armatus plunges players into a demon-infested Paris in an intense post-apocalyptic shooter in a world that has fallen apart, leaving behind only chaos and ruin.

As a last survivor of an ancient order, players are supernatural warriors forced to carve a path through grotesque and powerful enemies in search of an escape and a gate to heaven.

Armatus’ Setting: Scouring Demon-Ravaged Paris After The Vanishing

Armatus is set after a cataclysmic event called “The Vanishing,” which has left the streets of a fictionalized Paris overrun by demons, transforming the once busy and beautiful city into a twisted and grotesque hellscape.

Players take on the role of a masked, supernatural warrior, the last survivor of an ancient order, tasked with using his powerful weapons and unique abilities to find the “Sunless Gate,” the entrance to heaven.

The Roguelite Core: Death, Power, and Rebirth

Upon entering Paris, players must learn the power of knowledge, with every death a chance to learn and grow stronger. Every run is an opportunity to push further and learn to master the weapons as players “fight, die, revive, and try again.”

While players begin strong as a heavily armed and powerful warrior, equipped with a scythe and a weapon of their choice, from SMGs to shotguns, they unlock increasingly powerful holy powers and enhancements capable of laying waste to any demon.

Armatus Release Date and Platform Availability

Armatus was announced by Counterplay Games during the recent Xbox Partner Showcase, and is due to launch in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
