After nearly four years of waiting, Embark Studios’ extraction shooter ARC Raiders is finally available on consoles and PC — and it’s already drawing a massive crowd.

ARC Raiders Is Finally Here: A Bold Launch That’s Paying Off

A Promising Start for Embark Studios’ Ambitious Shooter

ARC Raiders launched at €39.99 (or local equivalent), a bold move in a genre dominated by free-to-play titles. But the gamble seems to be working. According to Steam data, the game reached 181,917 concurrent players shortly after launch, with 87% positive reviews out of over 2,500 ratings.

Beyond Steam, the game is also thriving on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing cross-progression between console and PC through the Microsoft Store.

From Testing to Triumph: Building on Early Momentum

During its free open beta, ARC Raiders had already attracted nearly 190,000 simultaneous players on Steam — close to its current launch numbers. For comparison, Embark’s debut game The Finals peaked at 242,619 concurrent players before stabilizing around 20,000 daily.

The coming weekend will be crucial to see if ARC Raiders maintains this strong momentum. Streamers’ enthusiasm and player curiosity could push the game even higher in the rankings.

Facing Fierce Competition

Embark Studios’ new shooter enters a crowded market, facing rivals such as Battlefield 6, Battlefield REDSEC, and the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. However, ARC Raiders’ focus on cooperation, survival, and dynamic world events gives it a distinct identity.

Senior Technical Designer Virgil Watkins confirmed that ARC Raiders was designed as a long-term project, planned to evolve over the next decade — an ambitious promise that could pay off if the studio maintains consistent updates and community support.

What Is ARC Raiders About?

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, ARC Raiders thrusts players into a desperate struggle between human survivors and relentless machines known as the ARC. Between the ruined surface and the underground refuge of Speranza, players must scavenge, craft, and upgrade their equipment to endure the dangers above.

The game can be played solo or in squads of three, with procedurally generated missions, dynamic weather, and unpredictable encounters. Four distinct maps are available at launch, each revealing fragments of a once-flourishing world destroyed multiple times over.

Survival, Crafting, and High-Risk Encounters

Every mission is a test of resourcefulness. Players must convert salvaged materials into weapons, tools, and gear vital to survival. Progression unlocks new skills across Survival, Mobility, and Endurance trees, while traders in Speranza offer contracts, gear, and narrative depth.

The heart of the action lies in combat against the ARC: from drone swarms to colossal mechanical titans, each enemy demands strategy and precision. Every firefight carries a risk — loud engagements may attract rival Raiders seeking easy loot. Mastering stealth and aggression is key to thriving in this unforgiving world.

In Conclusion: What’s Next for Embark Studios?

While maintaining ARC Raiders and The Finals, Embark Studios has already started developing two new projects. The CEO teased that one of them may be “a bit more conventional,” though no details have been confirmed yet. With ARC Raiders, Embark proves it’s not afraid to challenge conventions — and early signs suggest players are ready to join them on this ambitious journey.
