Amazon Sunsets Prime Gaming In Favor Of Luna
Amazon announced that Prime Gaming will soon become Luna Standard. The perks included will remain, for now.
Amazon has not officially announced the rebranding of Prime Gaming but multiple members received an email or a Twitch notification that the said service will soon be retiring. It will be succeeded by Luna Standard which will be part of Amazon’s cloud gaming platform.
Amazon retires Prime Gaming
Yesterday as many Prime members were waiting for the Prime Gaming free games lineup for October, Amazon shocked the community as they sent out emails and notifications that they are retiring the brand.
According to the message, Prime Gaming will “join” Luna Standard, which to the surprise of many, doesn’t actually exist yet. Luna as it is does, but it currently does not have a Standard-Premium model. As can be imagined, many went to go look for this Luna Standard but no proper writeup is published yet. Amazon did upload a YouTube ad though, teasing an all new Amazon Luna soon which includes “GameNight.”
As for Prime Gaming’s perks, the message made it clear that they’re here to stay including the free monthly Twitch subscription, exclusive emotes, and free PC games. With the Prime Gaming website set to go offline soon, it’s expected that Luna will introduce an updated site with a dedicated section for the free PC games.
Also worth noting as this is where many get confused, Luna is only supported in 14 countries yes, but the upcoming Luna Standard (which is part of it) will be available in all countries where Amazon Prime is available.

Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming service similar to Xbox Cloud Gaming or Sony’s PlayStation Now. With cloud gaming, you can play video games on various devices without needing a powerful gaming console or computer.
There are two ways to play games on Luna. You can either get access to a base library through a Prime membership or subscribe to Luna+ (soon to be Luna Premium) for a wider selection of titles.
This service is only available to gamers in the US, UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Portugal, Belgium and Luxembourg.
