Full crossplay launches simultaneously, meaning PC, Xbox, and PlayStation players can drive and drift together. Additionally, the update introduces new races, a free car, and economy adjustments. As a result, the PC and console versions are now identical.

JDM Multiplayer Launches Today on PS5 and Xbox Series

The update was released today, September 16, around 15:00 CEST, so you can start playing right now. With this new update, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series receive multiplayer for the first time, nearly a year after JDM: Japanese Drift Master launched on those platforms. Now, all PC features are available on consoles. Furthermore, crossplay is enabled across all platforms.

Players can join open lobbies or create private rooms, allowing up to 8 players to play simultaneously. You can then drive together in the open world. During these sessions, special events such as Grip and Drift races will appear on the map.

Grip races focus on the fastest time, while Drift races are won by achieving the highest score. Additionally, there are 1-on-1 Touge duels. This challenge can be initiated via another player’s profile. Quick Chat and VOIP have also been integrated.

New Races, Free Car, and Significantly Less Grind in JDM

Previously, there were 15 multiplayer events on PC, but now two more have been added. Tofuna Downhill and Tofuna Uphill are joining the game, bringing the total to 17 multiplayer events. Both races are available on PC and consoles, making the two versions completely identical.

The economy has also been slightly reworked. Cash rewards for single-player and multiplayer events are increased by 30%. EXP for vehicle and player reputation is also doubled. This allows you to purchase new vehicles faster, unlock tuning options, and test a wider variety of builds. The developers implemented this directly in response to player feedback regarding the grind.

Additionally, a new free vehicle, the FSO Polonez, is available on all platforms starting today. This is a Polish classic that comes with three different body kits: Rally, Bosozoku, and “Barnyard Tuning”. This car serves as a bridge connecting the game more closely with its Polish development studio.

What is Changing on Consoles?

As mentioned, the update brings numerous improvements to consoles that were already released on PC. After completing the main story, Video’s Garage becomes available, unlocking Fast Travel. Tire pressure settings also return to the game, and the Photo Mode has been improved. Several open-world collision issues have been fixed, which were particularly problematic for lowered vehicles. Many other minor improvements have also been implemented.

Consoles Catch Up to PC – Livery System to Follow

With this multiplayer update, JDM: Japanese Drift Master on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S finally catches up to the PC version. Crossplay, new races, a free car, and the reworked economy make the update highly appealing to existing players. Next, the team is working on the Livery System, which will allow players to customize their vehicles even further in the future.
