While IO Interactive didn’t have great news to start the day with 007 First Light’s Switch 2 launch delay, it’s making it up to PC fans. 007 First Light Gets Path Tracing and It Demands Serious Hardware
Four months after its debut, 007 First Light has received its path tracing update giving PC players a new way to experience the game’s visuals with more detailed lighting, shadows, and reflections.
Path tracing is one of the more demanding rendering techniques available today and that is reflected in the new requirements. The update also introduces native support for Nvidia’s DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, making 007 First Light the first game to natively integrate the technology.
The new feature is designed to improve the way ray-traced scenes are reconstructed helping produce cleaner and more detailed visuals while maintaining playable performance on compatible hardware.
For the minimum path tracing configuration, IO Interactive lists an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 for playing at 1080p and 60fps. That’s already a fairly substantial requirement but the recommended end of the scale goes much further. The ultra configuration calls for an RTX 5090 to target 4K at more than 200fps.
