- NetEase Games released a 19-minute gameplay demonstration of Blood Message showcasing the Shazhou City level.
- The game features a HUD-less, visceral combat system mixed with stealth elements and environmental takedowns.
- The title is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with no confirmed release date.
A Deep Look at the Shazhou City Gameplay Demonstration
The newly released footage for Blood Message provides a comprehensive look at an early game build. It tracks the protagonist, Pei Changguan, alongside his companion, Arrtai.
The demonstration begins with a slower, investigative pace as the characters explore a seemingly abandoned structure within Shazhou City. This section emphasizes environmental interaction and high-fidelity object textures.
The pacing shifts dramatically as an intense chase sequence breaks the exploration phase. This transition establishes a cinematic momentum heavily reminiscent of linear narrative blockbusters. Media reactions note that the game prioritizes constant forward motion.
What Is the Gameplay and Combat Style of Blood Message?
Blood Message features a brutal, fluid combat system that blends light and heavy attacks, parries, dodges, and executions. It completely omits a traditional heads-up display (HUD).
Players must rely on character animations and environmental cues rather than health bars to gauge status during combat. The gameplay also integrates stealth mechanics for quiet takedowns.
The combat system allows for high environmental interactivity. This enables players to utilize nearby objects for creative executions and situational advantages.
For instance, players can counter enemy strikes by redirecting them into standing water fixtures. Pei Changguan also utilizes tradesman tools to execute devastating finishing moves.

What Is the Story and Setting of Blood Message?
Blood Message is set during the Tang Dynasty era. It focuses on a deeply personal narrative amidst a large-scale historical upheaval. The plot follows Pei Changguan as he attempts to escape pursuit and encirclement by enemy forces. His central motivation is to locate his son and flee to safety.
Developed by the studio recognized for Naraka: Bladepoint, this project represents a deliberate transition toward single-player content. The narrative structure balances frantic escape sequences with quieter, somber moments where characters reflect on the destruction of their homes.
Supported Platforms and Release Window
NetEase Games has confirmed that Blood Message is actively in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. 24 Entertainment Linan Studio has not yet announced a specific release date or launch window for the title.
Given that the captured footage originates from an early developmental build, further optimization and feature announcements are expected to come later this Year.

Combat looks technically impressive, I still have my reservations regarding how good the finished product will be but have good hopes. Read someone comparing the level of interactivity in combat and animations to something like The Last of Us Part 2 and they weren't wrong. All in all the game looks fun, they already had my interest and now they have my attention.
