Gameplay Mechanics: A Roguelike Beat ‘Em Up
Arc System Works is following the structural shift to the franchise introduced with Three Kingdoms, by blending traditional arcade combat with roguelike progression.
Players will fight through various stages while collecting random power-ups from deities encountered along the way. According to Arc System Works, the game features approximately 80 different Secret Skills.
This randomized system forces players to adapt their combat builds on the fly, heavily incentivizing multiple playthroughs to test new combinations. To handle the escalating difficulty, players have access to three distinct fighting styles.

Yes, but with regional limitations. River City Saga: Journey to the West will receive a physical Nintendo Switch cartridge exclusively in Asian markets. Western players will only have access to digital versions via the PlayStation Network, Nintendo eShop, and Steam.
Fortunately for physical media collectors, the Asian physical edition will feature full English language support. As the Nintendo Switch hardware is completely region-free, collectors can securely import the physical cartridge to play on their current consoles without compatibility issues.
